Apparel Pathway Level 2

This apprenticeship is suitable for anyone involved in the creation of sewn products such as sewing machinists, soft furnishers, tailors / dressmakers and clothing cutters.


Apparel Pathway Level 2

The Fashion and Textiles apprenticeship; Apparel, is made up of two qualifications, an NVQ and a technical certificate:
Manufacturing Sewn Products Level 2 Certificate (NVQ) The NVQ is made up of 4 work related units (18 credits), which measure a person’s capability and job competency. 
There are 2 mandatory units and candidates must also achieve 2 optional units. The assessor will work with the employee and employer to select units relevant to the job role.

Level 2 Technical Certificate

The apprenticeship in Fashion and Textiles (Apparel) is made up of 48 credits and the list of units you will study include:


Mandatory units:

– Introduction and History of the Apparel Industry
– Understanding Health and Safety and associated Employer Rights and Responsibilities within the Apparel Industry
– Developing Working Relationships within the Apparel, Industry
– Maintain Quality Standards in Apparel Production


Optional Units will include:

– Apparel Manufacturing Techniques
- The Production Process
– Apparel Manufacturing Techniques
- Sewing and Making-Up Operations
– Materials Used in Manufacture of Apparel


Course Delivery:

Candidates are assessed in the workplace by qualified assessors and have lessons on specific skills in College. Candidates produce a portfolio of evidence to show knowledge
and understanding of the units.
The apprenticeship will take between 12 - 15 months to complete.
